Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a public health genomics research project on the "Understanding the genetic and epigenetic background of methylome in Schizophrenia and treatment response" in the Human Molecular Genetics laboratory of Dr.Moinak Banerjee at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential Qualifications

Post graduate degree in any field of science / MPH / M. Phil or equivalent degree with first class and proven experience in computational biology, Bioinformatics, genome informatics, Public health genomics or data science as evidenced by post graduate or M.Phil project work or research article. Candidates who have completed M.Phil or qualified National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET including LS/ GATE/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/Inspire/ JGEEBILS Examination) will be preferred. The candidate should also have good communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications

Hands on experience in NGS data analysis/ Programming language R/Bioconductor.

Age

Below 32 years as on 30th July, 2018. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.

Emoluments

Rs.25,000 + 16% HRA per month for Post Graduates Degree holders who have qualified NET (with valid certificate) or Post Graduates in Professional Degree courses. M.Sc. degree holders who do not have NET/GATE certification will be eligible for Rs.12,000/- + 16% HRA per month.

Duration

The project will be active for 3 years, but the initial appointment will be given for 1 year and further extension will be based on the performance evaluation till termination of the project.

Selection Process

Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 31st August, 2018. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project. Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed.

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the written test/interview.
