Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DST(SERB) funded research project entitled Dissecting the physiological role of Rv3423.1, a novel histone acetyltransferase in Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv, in the bacterium as well as in infected guinea pig in the laboratory of Dr. R Ajay Kumar at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential Qualifications

The candidate must have consistent excellent academic record with first class Master's Degree in Life Sciences/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology.
The Project involves handling of virulent strain of M.tuberculosis and the selected candidate should be willing to work under strict bio-containment facilities. The candidates should be willing to travel between the PI's lab and the co-investigator's lab in Faridabad as and when required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in culturing and handling mycobacteria.

Below 28 years as on 26th November, 2018

Emoluments

25,000 + 20% HRA per month for M.Sc. Degree holders who have qualified at NET/GATE (with valid certificate) or Post Graduates in Professional Degree course qualified candidates. M.Sc. degree holders who do not have NET/GATE certification will be eligible for Rs. 12,000/- + 20% HRA per month.

Duration

16 months or till termination of the project whichever is earlier.

Selection Process

Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 26th November, 2018. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project. Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed.

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the written test/interview.
