Biotechnology Skills Development Program

Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology runs a six-month biotechnology skills development program (BSDP) for graduates in the faculty of engineering, medicine and biological sciences. The rationale behind skills development program is to impart intensive knowledge relevant to the present industrial needs within a short period of six months to bridge the gap between the industry and academia, thereby generating immediately employable work force. The Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industry has immense potential in the coming years and needs a large number of trained graduates and post-graduates, who are familiar with the industrial needs, which sadly the academia fails to provide, in the current educational setting. The program thus aims to equip aspirants to meet present day requirements of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry by providing skilled personnel with hands on experience in various facets of techniques and bio-medical instrumentation. Six module programs are offered and include Molecular Diagnosis, Bio-Imaging, Biotech Instrumentation, Bioinformatics and Analytical Sciences. Each module is of six month duration and is "study and hands on" intensive.

Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) invites application for admission to the Biotechnology Skill Development Program (BSDP) in various domains. The eligibility to apply in the respective core disciplines is given below:

Molecular Diagnostics:

First Class B.Tech or M.Tech in Biotechnology, MBBS or BVSc, M.Sc (Biotechnology or Life Science) or MD or MVSc from any recognized University

Bio imaging:

First Class in M.Sc (Biotechnology or Life Science) or B.Tech or M.Tech (Biotechnology).

Analytical Science:

First Class in any branch of M.Sc Chemistry or B.Tech or M.Tech in Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering or equivalent from any recognized University.

Computational Biology and Bioinformatics:

First class in B.Tech / M.Sc / M.Tech degree Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or any other disciplines in biology from any recognized University.

Mode of Selection

Selection will be based on written test and the top 10 candidates will be shortlisted for the program in each domain. The exam will be based upon the basic educational qualification required for the specific course. Upper age limit is 30 years as on 05th January 2015.
