Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DBT funded research project entitled 'Delineation and characterization of defense signalling pathways and genetic regulation of induced systemic resistance in Zingiber-Pythium pathosystems' under the supervision of Dr. George Thomas at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential Qualifications

1. Master's Degree in Botany/ Plant Science/ Agricultural Sciences/ Biotechnology with 55% marks.
2. Valid JRF/ Score in national level examination for admission to PhD program conducted by the Central Government Departments/ Agencies such as CSIR-UGC- National Eligibility Test (NET)/ MHRD - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)/DBT-Biotechnology Eligibility Test/ IACR- All India Competitive Examination (AICE)/ Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JBEEBILS)/ ICMR - JRF Entrance Examination/ Lectureship in CSIR-UGC- National Eligibility Test (NET).

Age

Below 28 years as on 17^th October, 2018. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.

Emoluments

Rs. 25,000 + 20% HRA per month.

Duration

Three years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier. However, the selected candidates will be assessed yearly by a review committee and poor performance can lead to discontinuation of the appointment.

Selection Process

Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 17^th October, 2018. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed on the same day.

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the written test/interview.
