I earned my Ph.D. degree in Genetics from Osmania University, Hyderabad. I pursued post-doctoral training at the Molecular Biology and Cytogenetics Laboratory, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad and next at the HIV Diagnostics Division, Howard University in the Technical Assistance Project/Clinton Health Access which was also jointly funded by CDC, Malawi, South East Africa.
I joined RGCB in 2014 and now manages Laboratory Medicines Molecular Diagnostics (LMMD) Clinical Diagnostics Laboratory technical operations, NABL and NABH compliance and a DST project. My work with LMMD translational clinical research team realized in designing and validation of real-time assays for LMMD diagnostic offerings. My 14 years of extensive work experience in the fields of molecular diagnostics (including work on the clinical cytogenetics) and virology has resulted in successful publications in various peer-reviewed journals.

Tacrolimus (Tac), an immunosuppressant used in organ transplant recipients, has a narrow therapeutic range and exhibits inter-individual pharmacokinetic variability. Tacrolimus requires therapeutic monitoring of blood concentrations to prevent graft rejection owing to inadequate immunosuppression with low drug levels or toxicity due to high drug levels. My research focuses on identifying the impact of gene polymorphisms on dose-adjusted Tac trough concentration in blood and drug-induced adverse effects in renal transplant recipients. This will help identify patients who might have higher/lower Tac levels and, those who are at a higher risk of developing Tac-related complications can be identified even before their organ transplant, which can help the clinician decide the initial dosage of the drug.

My work involves collection and process of biological samples arriving from different health care Institutes and laboratories across Kerala. The downstream processing and analysis of the samples are conducted on a routine basis. I am also involved in handling paper work for NABL assessment in the capacity of Deputy Quality Manager.

My work involves diagnosis and quantification of viral diseases at molecular level through polymerase chain reaction, typing of virus by sequence analysis, IgM and IgG detection by ELISA and paper works for NABL assessment. I am also in charge of infection control management at LMMD.
