DBT-RGCB's initiatives for conservation of traditional black pepper varieties and associated livelihood improvement of tribes under the Tribal Heritage project supported under SHRI program, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. DBT-RGCB has constituted a Self Help Group (SHG) of Mala arayan tribal community and supported them to establish a nursery exclusively for traditional black pepper varieties at Pattayakudi, Venmony Panchayath, Idukki District. Dr. E.V. Soniya, Senior Scientist, has inaugurated the nursery on 24^th February, 2021. The nursery will also serve as a source of additional income for tribal communities to improve their livelihood.
