Eligibility and Application procedure
This award is given under two categories:
- PhD students
- Project fellows
The award will based on an oral presentation of the research data. The presentation will be for 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
Conditions
- This is a competitive award granted to PhD students for the best presentation of their research work at an annual competition every year.
- The award will carry a citation and cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-
- An independent evaluation committee consisting of a distinguished panel of scientists will carry out the evaluation of the presentation.
- No RGCB faculty will be on the evaluation committee.
- The presentation will be for 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes discussion.
- The competition will be restricted to PhD students only who must have completed a minimum of two years at RGCB but not more than 5 years (from date of registration issued by University)
- There will be one merit award. However, the committee may recommend an additional certificate of commendation based on merit of presentation.
- Those who do not win the award in first attempt can apply in the subsequent years.
- Only one award will be given to a student during his/her Ph.D. tenure.

Application procedure for the awards and travel grants
For the Dr. M.R Das Merit Award and the RGCB Travel Grant Award, applications should be submitted in the prescribed format to the office of the Dean, where documents will be verified and eligible candidates will be recommended to the Director for consideration for the award. Applications for both awards can be submitted at any time in the year. The Director's decision will be final and binding in the execution of the award. For the Merit Award of the Year, applications will be invited by October every year.
Merit Award Presentation for PhD Students 2018
- This year's presentations for the RGCB Merit Award are scheduled on November 15th & 16th 2018.
- The results will be announced and given at the RGCB Foundation Day Lecture (18th November 2017).
- Students who have received the merit award for previous years will not be allowed to present again.
- Submission of abstract (in MS Word; 500 words maximum): October 30, 2018
- Please note that the mentor must send the submission.
- Please send application and copies of abstracts to OAA by October 30, 2018
