Services for Overseas Clients
Guidelines for receiving, processing and result reporting of the samples received from overseas clients at
the DBT-SAHAJ National Facility for Mass Spectrometry-based proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics platforms (DBT-SAHAJ NFMS).
1. Samples
- Samples from overseas clients will be accepted only for the analytical services specified on the DBT-SAHAJ NFMS website.
- Only specified sample types-extracted proteins, metabolites, and lipids-will be accepted for analysis.
- Hazardous, infectious, and radioactive materials are not accepted. Shipments must include a declaration certifying that the materials are non-hazardous,
non-radioactive, and non-infectious. The format for this declaration is available on the DBT-SAHAJ NFMS website.
- Human biological samples, such as blood, tissues, and organs, will not be accepted.
2. Collaboration and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Research collaborations or MOUs between overseas clients and DBT-SAHAJ NFMS will not be entertained.
- DBT-SAHAJ NFMS personnel, including the scientist-in-charge, will not accept any form of authorship in articles based on analyses conducted at DBT-SAHAJ NFMS.
- However, DBT-SAHAJ NFMS appreciates if overseas clients acknowledge DBT-SAHAJ National Facility for Mass Spectrometry-Based Proteomics, Metabolomics and
Lipidomics Platforms, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram, India for the services provided in their articles.
3. Sample Shipment
- The sender must anonymize all samples before shipping to DBT-SAHAJ NFMS to remove or mask personal identifiers.
- Samples must be properly packed and labeled with relevant information, including the sender's details and a list of samples with corresponding codes and adequate descriptions.
- All required documents, such as invoices, certificates of origin, and sample submission forms, must accompany the shipment.
- Samples must be shipped under the appropriate storage conditions as specified on the DBT-SAHAJ NFMS website.
- If customs clearance is required, the sender must ensure all formalities, including customs clearance charges, are met.
- The courier service must provide door-to-door delivery.
4. Sample Submission Form
The sample submission form, available on the DBT-SAHAJ NFMS website, must be completed and submitted online for the corresponding analytical services.
5. Fees
All fees, including those for analytical services, customs clearance charges, or any other applicable fees, must be paid in advance before shipping samples to DBT-SAHAJ NFMS.

6. Regulatory Compliance
Samples must comply with the relevant regulations of the country from which they are shipped.
7. Non-Compliance
Samples not meeting the above requirements will be rejected, and the sender will be notified.
8. Results Reporting
Test results, including the details of the analytical method settings employed, will be provided in Microsoft Excel or a similar format, along with the corresponding raw data.
