The precise molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of venous diseases are not yet understood. We are currently studying mechanosensing and mechanotransductive pathways activated in vascular endothelium in response to altered shear stress in the development of venous diseases such as cerebral arteriovenous malformations and varicose veins.
